During the COVID-19 pandemic, Sri Lanka lacked a unified system for managing test results across thousands of testing centres — leading to delays, disconnected data, and barriers to rapid response.
The Backbone of Sri Lanka's COVID Response
In April 2020, as COVID-19 cases surged across Sri Lanka, the Ministry of Health commissioned Supariksha — a nationwide platform to centralise all PCR and antigen testing data.
The system was rolled out across 14,000+ GN divisions and integrated both government and private sector hospitals, laboratories, and health authorities into a single coordinated network.
At its core, Supariksha's laboratory module cut result release time by 8+ hours — critical for rapid isolation decisions and contact tracing during the pandemic crisis.
